R&D ENGINEER IN HPM LABORATORY
We are looking for an R&D Engineer in chemistry to join our chemical High-Performance Materials group and work closely with the entire XTPL technology team to bring unique XTPL nanoinks and pastes to the market. With a solid knowledge foundation in chemistry and experience in chemical technologies, the R&D Engineer will significantly contribute to the development effort and help achieve company goals while developing new syntheses of nanomaterials as well as respecting the timelines of projects. The position holds its part in an expanding team whose focus solely relies on internal and external new materials projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform research and development tasks to develop new products and sustain existing ones
- Synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials, and formulation thereof for applications in printed electronics
- Analyzing and interpreting analytical data to understand material structure and purity
- Documenting laboratory results and outcomes in the form of comprehensive reports
- Assay method operation and analysis of DLS, DSC, UV/Vis spectroscopy, FTIR, TGA and rheology measurements
- Conducting lab-scale synthesis of high-performance materials (HPM) with a focus on grams to kilograms scale reactions
- Developing and validating analytical methods to assess properties and purity of HPM
- Solving complex technical challenges to advance R&D projects
- Innovating and advancing scientific techniques to push projects forward at all development phases
- Ensuring the smooth operation of the chemical laboratory and its equipment, while maintaining adequate material supplies for uninterrupted production
OUR EXPECTATIONS
- A university degree in chemical technology or chemistry (minimum MSc, a PhD is a plus), or a related field
- At least 3 years of practical experience working in a research/industrial laboratory
- Proficient in the practical application of methods for synthesizing, purifying, and analysing nanomaterials
- English language proficiency at a technical level for engaging in discussions and understanding technical literature and documents
- Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a friendly and cooperative attitude
- Ability to work in a team with strong problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a team with strong problem-solving skills
- Enthusiasm for maintaining R&D work and a proactive approach to suggesting ideas for improvement
- Accountability for results – their consistency, quality and efficiency. Being able to summarize information effectively in the form of reports (e.g. written documents, graphical presentations, patents drafts)
- Direct experience and expertise in metallic nanoparticle synthesis, characterization, evaluations and dispersion systems development
- Direct experience and expertise in batch syntheses, scale-up processes and rules for creating material and energy balances
- Strong technical writing skills supported by scientific publication history
ADDITIONAL ASSETS
- Experience in new nanomaterials environment and product formulations
- Ability to operate laboratory devices (spectrophotometer, rotary evaporator, centrifuge, viscometer, rheometer, glovebox, etc.)
- Knowledge in Agile methodology
