NCBR’s grant for XTPL under the Fast Track Programme

Reading time: 2 min

XTPL has received a grant of nearly PLN 10m under the Fast Track programme of the Polish National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR). The funds will allow the technology researchers to move from laboratory work to first implementations.

The technology of producing ultra-thin electrically conductive lines developed by the team of Polish researchers has been verified and operates in laboratory conditions. The main goal of XTPL is to reach the ready-to-implement stage, since the queue of interested companies is already quite long.

We have received many letters of intent from global businesses that want to implement our technology. One of them is Trina Solar, the largest producer of photovoltaic modules in the world. This is really uplifting, all the more so because we have been convinced of the great potential of our invention since the very beginning. However, to collaborate with such giants, we have to move our technology to the production stage. For this we need a big team and well-equipped labs. Thanks to the grant from the National Centre for Research and Development, we will be able to extend the XTPL team by hiring new specialists and rent laboratories with the equipment we need. This step will lead us straight to the first implementations. We believe that we will be ready in 2.5 years, says Filip Granek, PhD, co-creator of the XTPL technology.

XTPL is one of 46 projects recommended for the grant. In total, NCBR has received 608 applications at this stage of the competition and 593 of them have undergone expert assessment.

Fast Track, the programme of the National Centre for Research and Development, is designed for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. They can apply for grants towards projects of industrial research or development works related to technology solutions and products serving to grow the business and improve competitive advantage, provided that the project meets the criteria of the national smart specialization.
